Yang Wins April Gold Sue Yang became the first woman in the history of the Grind Prix to win the coveted Gold Division. Yang, last years female player of the year, edged out Mike Luc by one point and Jas Chauhan by two points in a star-studded field. Chan Po won the Blue, with Jack Horwitz taking 2nd and Slice Corwin trailing at 3rd. Fast improving junior, Luke Leroy won Red honors, well ahead of Ed Wiens and Paul Aloojian, who tied 5 points back. Fresno City Councilman, Tom Boyajian, joined in Blue Group action, even though he's a lot more at home on a golf course these days. Boyajian has been a runner ever since he was a kid; he even entered a 2 mile race the pervious Saturday! "I'm about ten pounds overweight," the competitive Boyajian says, "so I didn't expect to run very well." On the tennis court, however, Boyajian is a good athlete with a natural forehand; he had no problem chasing down the tennis ball. |
